Trevor Prideaux, the Modern of Captain Hook




Have you remembered Captain Hook? He is a villainous pirate captain of the Jolly Roger brig, and lord of the pirate harbour in Neverland. He is widely feared, because of a big iron hook in place of his right hand, which was cut off by Peter Pan and eaten by a saltwater crocodile.

From this blog we can see another of captain hook in modern version. Brit Trevor Prideaux was 50 years, a British man. Prideaux has limitations on his left arm since he was birth. Remarkably, the limitations of Prideaux forced him to innovate. Prideaux want to be able to use smartphone like common people.

Finally, he try to design a prosthetic arm equipped with a special holder to put the smartphone. Interestingly, he has smart choice and he chose iPhone as the most popular smartphones in the world.



Unfortunately, the iPhone too expensive for him. The struggle to get the iPhone or just the casing wasn't running smoothly. In an interview with the Telegraph, Prideaux admitted that he had contacted Apple to ask for the original iPhone casing. But the answer is the supply was empty during the development period.





Prideaux was never give up and he has a powerful spirit. Finally he visited an O2 mobile phone shop and share ideas there. He finally managed to establish relationships with the Nokia and the Exeter Mobility Centre, a service organization with disabilities in the area that will help accelerate the production of a prosthetic arm.


From trusted information, which eventually became the model of smartphone development of a prosthetic arm is Nokia C7, one of the flagship Nokia smartphone. Finally Prideaux was smiling and showing off this innovation.
