Before this commute was built in 1997, the people should walk of several days to get to the next nearest village. Actually Yushan Village is a beautiful place, though it located 400 metres above the valley floor.

How about the technical of the commute. A pair of thick cables are strung between two high cliff. And it faces with a steel cage suspended below to carry people. It powered by a diesel engine, is 1,000 meters long and 400 meters above the valley floor. Zhang Xinjian (the rope ma) has been maintaining the ropeway for the past 15 years. The conclusion is this commute so impressive. But simultaneously terrifying, especially for those with a fear of heights.
